BI CONNECTORS has signed a collaborative agreement with UPC University (Catalonia Polytechnic University) for a research project and an industrial doctorate called Smart Connector.

The Smart Connector Project is based on integrating sensors on high voltage connectors for sub-stations, making it possible to obtain specific real-time data such as temperature, vibrations or intensity, using an energy harvesting system.

This new smart connector concept is designed to respond to the market for digital workstations and online predictive maintenance with concepts such as Smart Grid, Internet of Things or WSN (Wireless Sensor Nodes).

SBI CONNECTORS and UPC recently took part in an economic R&D support programme launched by the Spanish government's Ministry for Research and Innovation, and were informed that the Smart Connector project was one of those selected.
