SICAME INDIA doubles the size of its factory, near Chennai
The project to extend the SICAME factory in India began in August 2017.
The SICAME INDIA factory is located about 50 km south of Chennai, in the state of Tamil Nadu in the east of India (Gulf of Bengal). Its new extension allows SICAME INDIA to double the area of its premises, which now cover 4,000 m2. The emphasis is on increasing foundry capacity. This will have an area of 960 m2 and will be designed to optimise flows with automation to improve productivity. Special emphasis will be put on the ‘Transmission’ sector with an area of 1,040 m2, which includes emerging HTLS projects for regions of India and the Subcontinent, as well as export projects for the Transmission SBU.
This extension also enables SICAME INDIA to better meet the growing demand of the overhead distribution and telecommunications sector on the Indian market, as well as the growth expected in the Asia-Pacific region.
These premises also accommodate SITEC (Sicame India Test & Engineering Centre, accredited Under SICAME Lab); SICAME INDIA is pursuing the target of becoming one of the SICAME Group’s key subsidiaries. Prior to constructing this extension, and according to the ancient Indian Vastu Shastra rite (science of architecture), the ‘Bhoomi puja’ ritual was performed to get permission from Mother Earth (Bhoomi) to build this space. Erecting a building causes a change in mother earth, also, according to tradition, special Vedic hymns calming the different energies residing in the space, are used to ask for permission and pardon from Mother Earth, so as to restore harmony and promote prosperity. This Indian rite is completely integrated into the multicultural culture dear to the SICAME Group.
