Russian conquest for underground HV-A accessories

In 2017, our Russian subsidiary OOO SICAME moved into promoting underground accessories for single conductor cables with 10 kV and 20 kV XLPE insulation on the Russian market. Sales exceeded €350,000 in 2017, going well beyond the 2017 budget.

In 2014, SICAME underground accessories were certified and approved on the Russian market by two of the largest electricity network companies in Moscow, OEK and MKS, which manage the city’s main supply substations and underground networks.

As part of the certification, a pilot connection was made to two residential blocks in Moscow with JUPTH junctions using 20 kV cables with XLPE insulation. This certification enabled SICAME to supply underground accessories, mainly for 20 kV, to installations where service continuity is needed.

This market niche in Moscow’s supply networks enables OOO SICAME to break the monopoly of Raychem and to take up to 80% of the cable accessories market for the capital’s electrical installations.

OOO SICAME, which will not settle for the Moscow market, has planned in 2018 to get SICAME underground accessories approved by LOESK, main operator of the Saint-Petersburg electricity networks where RAYCHEM products still occupy almost 100% of the market.

We are therefore optimistically forecasting significant growth in sales for this market over 2018.
